Dmitry Orlov’s hip check on Matt Duchene has been immortalized on a Halloween pumpkin

Capitals fan Charlie is no stranger to creating intricate Capitals inspired artwork on pumpkin to celebrate the spooky season. And, with the three-year anniversary of Dmitry Orlov’s hipcheck on Matt Duchene happening earlier in October, they decided to immortalize the moment in pumpkin.

While we’ve been a fan of their previous designs, this one might be our favorite yet!

Of course, Charlie didn’t stop there. They also rendered Capitals mascot Slapshot with an uncanny likeness.

Slapshot wasn’t the only mascot to get the pumpkin treatment. Check out their Gritty design. It’s just like the real thing!

Other Capitals fans also got in on the pumpkin carving action, including artist Suzy Mink, who had their work displayed at MedStar Capitals Iceplex for the Caps hockey Halloween practice.

Captain, the Caps puppy, only made his debut earlier this month and he’s already got his own pumpkin. Seeing the two side-by-side makes this portrait all the more impressive.

One fan also took the opportunity to use their pumpkin to remind everyone that the Capitals are Stanley Cup champions.

Dave Pacifico also gave another DC team some love with their pumpkin depicting the 2019 World Series logo in honor of the now-World Series champion Washington Nationals.

As though we needed any further proof that DC sports fans are the best!
