Andrei Svechnikov, the 19-year-old phenom from the Carolina Hurricanes, just scored a Goal of the Year candidate.
In a lacrosse game this would be impressive. On the ice, it’s basically magic.
Video
Svechnikov is behind Calgary’s net, then he does something with his wrists, and then I think he released a pigeon and palmed a silver dollar or something and, anyway, now the puck is in the back of the net.
The pledge.

The prestige.
Flames goalie David Rittich died immediately, which we can all understand. I’d do the same.
You might remember Svechnikov from when Alex Ovechkin knocked him out last summer. Well, he scored again three minutes after this goal, so I think he’s fine now.
