Like Tom Wilson, the Washington Capitals Twitter account has a long memory. And early Thursday morning, the Caps Twitter clapped back at the Los Angeles Kings in epic fashion.
Let me explain.
The Washington Nationals lost Game Three of the NLDS to the Los Angeles Dodgers 10-4 on Sunday. The Nationals led 2-1 until the Dodgers exploded for a seven-run sixth inning and batted around, giving the Dodgers an 8-2 lead.

The Dodgers tweeted to their fans in all caps during that barrage, “CAN WE GET A SHOW OF HANDS IF YOU'RE ENJOYING THIS SIXTH INNING RIGHT NOW?”

The Kings responded with a pun, “You 8-2 see it.”
You 8-2 see it, @Nationals 🤷♂️🤷♀️

8-2 in this instance meaning “hate to.”
Days later, after the Nationals defeated the Dodgers in Game Five after a tenth inning grand slam by Howie Kendrick, the Capitals, who are a special type of petty, responded back. It was particularly fitting because on the same night, the Kings lost to the Vancouver Canucks by a score of…8-2.
you really 8-2, don't you 😬
