Last year, the Washington Mystics made the WNBA finals but were swept by the Seattle Storm.
This season, there’s a chance we could get another summer, or more precisely fall, of Ted, as the Mystics clinched the first overall seed in the WNBA playoffs and home-court advantage throughout.

Their motto for the season, #RunitBack, is a reference to their goal this year of returning to the Finals, and then winning it all. And there’s a real chance they could do it.
The Mystics hold a record of 26-8, their best regular season in franchise history.

And they’re doing it behind a stacked team. In addition to running the most prolific offense in the WNBA, Elena Delle Donne will likely be the W’s MVP after putting up a preposterous season, including becoming the first WNBA player to have a 50/40/90 stat line.

Plus, they have fun off the court. Check out head coach Mike Thibault breaking it down at EDD’s 30th birthday party.

And for kicks, Aerial Powers, who loves video games, played WNBA 2K against Matt Ellentuck of SB Nation. The trash talk was fabulous.
You can’t play @NBA2K without a lil trash talking lol https://t.co/sRv5Hvq1AG

They also finally have their own home arena. Last year, they played their playoff games at three different arenas. This season, they play at the new Entertainment and Sports Arena in Southeast, and ‘Stics hold a 14-3 record in the building.

The Mystics start their playoff run with a best-of-five series on September 17 at the Entertainment and Sports Arena and an automatic bye to the semifinals.
