Alex Ovechkin is back at it again. He’s been a pizza delivery guy, a pizza chef, and now he’s a pizza muse.
Papa John’s Russia will be adding a brand new pizza to their menu, and according to the company, this cheesy, crunchy concoction is inspired by Ovechkin’s love of nachos. Ovechkin’s first signed an endorsement deal with Papa John’s in 2015 and has been hawking pizzas for Papa John’s Russia since 2017.
Ovechkin recently made the new nacho pizza for himself at a Papa John’s kitchen in Russia.
The nacho pizza will feature a tomato sauce base, topped with Italian sausage, mozzarella cheese, jalapeno peppers, and, of course, nachos and cheese sauce. The nacho pizza will be officially released in Russia in October.
The man does love his nachos. Here he is, double-fisting plates of nachos and hot dogs at a Wizards-Lakers game last December.
If Papa John’s is designing new pizzas based on Ovi’s diet, what’s next? A chicken parm pizza? A pizza topped with meat sauce, marinara sauce, Alfredo sauce, and mushroom sauce, all swirled together? Or maybe they’ll kick it old school and make a pizza topped with buffalo wings.
While there’s no word if Ovechkin’s nacho pizza will be available in North America, there’s always Papa John’s Taco Pizza in the US. Is it the same? No. Can we pretend? Yup.
