We’re proud to announce that we’re bringing Sportsnet contributor and YouTube sensation Steve Dangle down to Washington DC on Saturday, August 24, to sign copies of his hit book This Team is Ruining My Life (But I Love Them): How I Became a Professional Hockey Fan. The book details Steve’s incredible odyssey, from self-starting Toronto Maple Leafs-lover to sports-media star.
One More Page Books, an independent book store in Arlington, VA (which is run by Caps fans), will be hosting the signing from 2-4pm. Get your tickets now as they are going really, really fast. Later that night, we will be hosting a party at Walters Sports Bar with Steve from 6-9pm.
“Hoooo-EEEE! I’m so excited to come to DC!!!” Dangle said to me in a text message.
Us too, Steve. Us too.
Video
Despite living in different countries, Steve has become a good friend of mine. We’ve been on each others’ podcasts and we even had a very funny public bet when the Leafs played the Capitals in the postseason. (He lost.) We’ve always wanted to meet.
After Steve wrote his first book, we mused about having a book signing in DC, but there were a lot of annoying details to figure out – like travel, how do we get all those freaking books down here, and how do we not lose lots of money on this fun adventure. It’s really important to point out that last part out.
So here’s our plan.
Book signing

On Saturday, August 24, from 2-4pm, Steve Dangle will be signing books at One More Page Books in Arlington, VA. One purchased ticket gets you the book and the opportunity to meet Steve Dangle.
We are also selling add-ons that will help us cover the expense of the trip so please go nuts. These are available on the second page of the Eventbrite page after you hit “Checkout.”
- $5 staged photos with Steve Dangle (and me if you want). Wacky poses. Bring props. Let’s make it fun!
- $10 commemorative Steve Dangle pucks that will be special only to this event. I’m designing them.
- $10 commemorative Steve Dangle posters that Rachel Cohen, our lead illustrator, is creating.
- A $20 package which includes a photo, puck, and poster and saves you $5. (Please buy this one)
These add-ons can be added on top of your $20 book ticket in checkout.
We will also have this Steve Dangle cat pose cardboard cutout available to take photos with while you wait. This was my idea. You’re welcome.
Now here’s some honesty. Interest is very high in this event.
It's official. It's happening. Me in D.C. with @russianmachine. August 24. Details soon. BE THERE. https://t.co/Q2HSfQga8J

Due to what we’re expecting to be a large turnout from DC and surrounding areas, we cannot emphasize enough to pre-purchase tickets before they sell out. We’re capping the book signing at 250 tickets and they’re already almost gone.
There are people from Georgia, Texas, Missouri, and Arkansas who have all reached out about the Dangle book signing in DC. 🤯🤯🤯

⬆ All these people bought tix already.
So, get your orders in… like right now. We will extend the book signing by an hour if necessary that day to handle everyone who purchased tickets.
Special notes: If you have already bought Steve’s book, he will also sign that too. If you’re traveling a long distance for the book signing, please ask us questions in the comments of this article and we can try to answer them well since we’re locals. We want to make this a fun experience for everyone, especially if someone is making a trip out of this.
