Troy Brouwer goes viral on Twitter for very astute observation about his former teams

It took the St. Louis Blues 52 years, but they finally won their first Stanley Cup on Wednesday night.

One of the first people to congratulate the Blues was one of their former players, Troy Brouwer, on Twitter.

Then he added this observation.

This is actually… very correct.

After being traded to the Washington Capitals for a first-round pick during the 2011 offseason, the Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup two years later in 2013. After the Capitals traded Brouwer to the St. Louis Blues for TJ Oshie in the summer of 2015, Washington won the Stanley Cup three seasons later in 2018. And finally, after the Blues let Brouwer sign with the Calgary Flames as an unrestricted free agent, they won the Cup in 2019, nearly three years later.

So the lesson joke here? If you want to win the Stanley Cup, get Brouwer off your team, like… immediately.

Some fans expressed sympathy to Troy, though I’m not sure they realized he won the Stanley Cup with the Blackhawks 2010.

Others were kinda mean.

In the end, Troy seemed to have a good time.
