During the All-Star Skills Competition, the San Jose Sharks game entertainment crew started the pregame show with the number 32 song on the Billboard’s Top 40: Baby Shark.
The earworm song must have earworm’d into John Carlson’s brain because during the family’s bye week vacation in Florida, the Capitals defenseman sang the song to his youngest son.
Except, he changed the lyrics.

“Rudy Shark, doo doo doo doo doo doo,” Carlson sings to his son in a floatie before trailing off. Lucca Carlson looks on from the side of the pool.
For those of you hoping to hear an entire verse, I GFY’d the video so Carly repeats the lyric infinitely. Just hit the sound button on the GIF at the top right.
The song is a popular singalong song for parents looking to entertain their kids (or desperately keep them from irrationally crying in the back of the car because holy god Ethan is ready to get out of this baby seat RIGHT NOW).
The entire Carlson family joined John in San Jose for All-Star Weekend. Lucca Carlson, who says his favorite Capitals player is Braden Holtby, rocked a Parley All-Star Jersey of his dad.

The Carlsons spent their bye week together with the Backstroms and Greens in Miami. Thursday, Carlson returned to MedStar Capitals Iceplex for the first time in a week. Later that day, the Carlson kids played hockey at home.
