Apparently, drama involving Brad Marchand is good for business.
Thursday night’s Capitals-Bruins game was the highest-rated NBC Sports Washington Caps game in nearly six years, according to the Sports Business Journal’s John Ourand. It was also the most-streamed Caps game on record.
Caps-Bruins on NBC Sports Washington averaged a 2.76 household rating in the DC DMA, "making it the highest-rated Caps regular-season games since Jan. 27, 2013. In terms of minutes, it was the most-streamed regular-season Caps game on record," the RSN says.

The Capitals-Bruins game featured two goals from Alex Ovechkin, Zdeno Chara getting checked into the bench, dirty hits, several lead changes, and lots of rat-like behavior.
The defending champion Capitals are drawing big ratings this year, especially against their biggest rivals. The December 19 national telecast of the Capitals-Penguins game, for instance, was the most-watched regular-season game since 2016 (excluding opening nights). And in June, the Capitals’ Game Five victory over the Vegas Golden Knights was the highest rated Washington Capitals game in any NBC market ever.
