During the LA Kings’ Saturday tilt against the Edmonton Oilers, there were plenty of milestones. Anze Kopitar scored his 300th goal and Jonathan Quick got his 300th win.
In honor of 90’s night, Fox Sports wound the clock back and replayed Kopitar’s goal using the glow puck to help viewers track the puck.
Does Kopitar’s snipe look better with that distinguishable, pixelated hue? You be the judge.

Here are a few more examples of it being used in the game.

The glow puck, or FoxTrax, was used from 1996-98 during Fox Sports hockey broadcasts to help viewers track the puck during play. It was a massive point of contention amongst viewers, as hockey purists said people didn’t need the augmented reality to help see the puck and that it was distracting, while some viewers thought it helped them follow the game more easily.
The glow puck wasn’t the only throwback used on 90’s night. The Kings doled out fanny packs and Fox Sports brought back animated robots.
The only way to properly end the night 🤖
