Madison Bowey scores first NHL goal!

In a night of firsts and with the 73rd shot of his NHL career, Caps defenseman Madison Bowey is finally on the board. Taking a big north-south pass from Tom Wilson, Bowey sunk his shot and ended the slump that has plagued him since his debut.

Like a hockey Rambo, Wilson went solo behind enemy lines to chase a puck. He won the race then chipped the puck backwards through the slot. There it found Bowey, who had naught but open space between him and the net. He didn’t throw away his shot.

For the second time tonight, a first-ever NHL goal celebration.

With the goal, Bowey departs the ignominious company of Haydn Fleury and Xavier Oullet, the only players to have taken more shots than Bowey over the last two seasons without a goal.

Minutes after scoring, Bowey fought Brady Tkachuk, but I don’t care. He finally scored! Go Bowey!
