Tyler Lewington scores first career NHL goal!

Just minutes after recording his first NHL assist on Tom Wilson’s goal, Tyler Lewington has scored his first career NHL goal.

Backstrom carried the play into the offensive zone, luring Ottawa defenseman Dylan Demelo with him. Backstrom dropped the puck to Lewington, coming right up the slot. With Alex Ovechkin screening the net, Lewington wristed the puck to Hogberg’s stick side.

And here is Lewington’s first ever goal celebration.

This is Lewington’s second ever NHL game. He averages under four goals a season with the Hershey Bears, but maybe he just needed a bigger stage for him to truly shine.
