Christian Djoos will miss a ‘substantial number of weeks’ after undergoing surgery on left thigh

The Djoos is very much not loose.

After missing practice Wednesday and being listed day-to-day with a lower-body injury, Christian Djoos is out for a substantial number of weeks after undergoing surgery on his left thigh.

The Capitals termed the surgical procedure as “successful.”

After practice, coach Todd Reirden said Djoos will be out for a while, but did not label it as season-ending yet. The surgery was promoted from complications of an injury that occurred Tuesday night.

With Brooks Orpik still recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery, Madison Bowey will pair up with Jonas Siegenthaler as the third defensive unit for tonight’s tilt against the Carolina Hurricanes and the foreseeable future.

The Caps won’t recall anyone yet, but could before the game tomorrow. The Hershey Bears d-core has injury problems as well, with top prospect Lucas Johansen out since November 23.
