Shumakov posted a photograph to his Instagram the Wednesday following the Rockford game. In the photo, Shumakov’s right hand was in a blue brace. A Hershey representative told RMNB that Shumakov was considered week-to-week, due to the injury.
“Sergei was injured during the first period of Sunday’s game in Rockford,” the Hershey representative told RMNB. “Per our training staff, Sergei Shumakov is week-to-week with an upper-body injury.”
The Capitals signed Shumakov in September to a one-year, $925,000 deal. He was assigned to Hershey in late September, along with goalie prospect Ilya Samsonov.
In five games with Hershey, Shumakov has scored two goals.
