Capitals send Jayson Megna down to Hershey

On Sunday the Capitals reassigned forward Jayson Megna to Hershey. The Capitals placed Megna on waivers on October 3 after the addition of forward Dmitrij Jaskin. Megna scored 1 goal in 3 preseason games for Washington.

Megna, 28, signed a one-year, two-way contract that carries a $350,000 cap hit in the AHL. The Capitals have too many forwards to keep Megna on their roster, so sending Megna down was inevitable.

Megna will try and bring stability to a young Hershey team who have lost their first four games. The 28-year-old will join the Bears in Rockford ahead of their game against the IceHogs tonight.

Nathan Walker remains in Washington as the Capitals’ extra forward. When Travis Boyd recovers from a lower-body injury sustained from blocking a shot in the preseason, the Capitals will have to place another player on waivers.
