The Capitals canine calendar photoshoot is finally here and OMG PUPPIES

Saturday afternoon, the best boys and girls graced the Capitals presence for the annual Canine Calendar photoshoot.

All proceeds from the calendar go to Homeward Trails Animal Rescue, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that provides pet adoption in Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Maryland.

To start, the Stanley Cup is making an appearance in the calendar this year.

Evgeny Kuznetsov and Dmitry Orlov played with the smallest lil floofs.

Alex Ovechkin’s lab Blake is the most well behaved lab in the land.

Nicklas Backstrom, who is notoriously afraid of dogs but not puppies, holds two puppies in his hands and tries to not looked pained in the process, while Lars Eller calmly pets a poodle.

A perfect Russian troika, featuring the Stanley Cup and an impossibly small puppy cradled by Dmitry Orlov.

Braden Holtby and his fedora are extra excited because the Stanley Cup is here.

TJ Oshie and his family took the moment for an adorable family photo, featuring their dog Charlie and the Cup.

Even keeper of the Cup Phil Pritchard got a chance to shine.

The Capitals will participate in the 2019 Capitals Canine Calendar photo shoot today, featuring the Stanley Cup, at MedStar Capitals Iceplex on Saturday, Oct. 6, from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Proceeds from the calendar benefit Homeward Trails Animal Rescue.

Players participating in the photo shoot include John Carlson, Brett Connolly, Nic Dowd, Lars Eller, T.J. Oshie, Alex Ovechkin, Matt Niskanen and Chandler Stephenson with their dogs and Nicklas Backstrom, Madison Bowey, Travis Boyd, Andre Burakovsky, Pheonix Copley, Christian Djoos, Braden Holtby, Dmitrij Jaskin, Michal Kempny, Evgeny Kuznetsov, Dmitry Orlov, Devante Smith-Pelly, Jakub Vrana, Nathan Walker and Tom Wilson with dogs available for adoption through Homeward Trails.

One hundred percent of proceeds will benefit Homeward Trails Animal Rescue. Homeward Trails is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that provides pet adoption in Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Maryland. Homeward Trails seeks to find permanent adoptive homes in the Mid-Atlantic region for dogs and cats from high-kill shelters or whose owners can no longer care for them.
