As far as I am concerned, last night looked pretty dang easy for the Washington Capitals. It should be simple for them to replicate last night’s performance again for the rest of the season, but especially tonight when they travel to Pittsburgh to play the Penguins.
I always had an anxious knot in my stomach when we played Pittsburgh. Maybe it was just a hope-esque feeling of wanting the Capitals to do well enough to prove themselves or something. Anyway, it’s now gone because I don’t care about them. I don’t even know who the Pittsburgh Penguins are anymore.
Chris from the comments will have his first recap of the season for you after the game. You can watch pregame coverage on NBCS Washington beginning at 6 PM and you can stream it online.

Projected Lines
What’s the point of tweaking the lines if they worked pretty dang well last night:
Ovechkin – Kuznetsov – Connolly
Vrana – Backstrom – Oshie
Burakovsky – Eller – Stephenson
Walker – Dowd – DSP
Orlov – Niskanen
Carlson – Djoos
Orpik – Bowey
Holtby

Storylines
- You should read the morning after numbers. Spoiler alert: the Capitals did a great job.
- The Caps claimed Dmitrij Jaskin off waivers and it looks like he’s going to bring a whole bunch to the table.
- “It’s garbage, honestly”– the team’s reaction to Tom Wilson‘s suspension and my reaction to the really terrible cup of coffee I had this morning.
- There is a new Capitals Fanchest! These sold out pretty quickly last time, so I recommend hoppin’ on this fast.
- The Capitals players reacting to the banner raising is such a good time. My personal favorite quote comes from Nick Backstrom who said, “Everything is just so cool.”
- Ohhh MAN the new jackets that the Caps wives got are so good.
- Lars Eller had his first career fight last night because he was celebrating a goal. No fun allowed.
- Caps fans crowded the streets to watch the banner-raising ceremony. The joy is truly contagious.
