Philipp Grubauer’s said a heartfelt goodbye after his trade to the Colorado Avalanche this offseason.
But a new team means new gear for the former Capitals backup goalie.
Swedish airbrush artist Dave Gunnarsson delivered again with his Rocky Mountain themed helmet, which features “Grubi” on the chin and the Colorado “C” logo under the Rocky Mountains.

This is Gunnarsson’s eleventh “Desolation of Grubi” mask, and Gunnarsson worked with Grubauer on an American flag themed mask, his Stadium Series bucket, and his 2017-2018 mask.
Caps goalie prospect Ilya Samsonov also has a mask designed by Gunnarsson, and it was promoted last week.
