Mitch Korn shared his Stanley Cup day with John Walton at Miami University. He ate wings out of the Cup.

On Wednesday, former Capitals goalie coach Mitch Korn brought the Stanley Cup to Miami, Ohio, and was joined on campus by radio voice of the Capitals John Walton.

The pair celebrated at Goggin Ice Arena on the campus of Miami University of Ohio. Korn was an assistant coach to the men’s hockey team and the ice arena administrator in the 80’s before being hired by the Buffalo Sabres in 1991. Walton graduated from Miami University in 1996 and majored in mass communications.

The day started with a special photo op on High Street for the two Red Hawks.

Later in the morning, there was a special brunch at Goggin Ice Arena which honored Korn and Walton. Many Goggin and Miami affiliates were there to see the championship trophy.

The brunch was followed by a public event in the lobby of the Goggin Ice Arena, where fans got the chance to meet Korn.

Korn also had a banner unveiling in his honor.

The Cup was also brought to the ice surface during a Miami men’s hockey practice.

John Walton took a special Cup pic with his dad.

Later the duo put on Redhawks varsity jackets.

Finally, Korn ended the night by eating wings out of the championship trophy.
