The Capitals’ illustrious tradition of performing Cup stands continued during the Stanley Cup’s visit to Nicklas Backstrom’s hometown of Gävle.
Thus far, this sacred ritual has included a Conn Smythe winner, a late night talk show host, a 7’1” referee, Alan May, and nearly every Capitals player and staff member.
We can now include on this list Nicklas Backstrom’s mother, Catrin Backstrom.
Catrin’s caption reads, “Grandma in the Stanley Cup 🏆😁”
Catrin has been busy posting to Instagram since her son won the Stanley Cup.
Highlights include:
Nicky posting with his brother Kristoffer and his son Vince…
The Backstrom clan posing in front the Stanley Cup during Nicklas’ first day with the Cup…
Backstrom and Christian Djoos in suits walking the Cup down the aisle of a private party…
And finally this photo of her son holding the Cup high.
