Michael Latta visits children at Grand River Hospital wearing Capitals Winter Classic jersey

On Wednesday, former Washington Capitals forward and eternal brobean Michael Latta visited Grand River Hospital in Kitchener, Ontario. He was joined there by fellow Kitchener natives, Mike Hoffman of the Florida Panthers and the Manitoba Moose’s Logan Stanley.

Latta took photographs with the children at the hospital, and signed autographs. He is back in Kitchener for the K-W Alumni Hockey Academy Camp, which raised money for a local charity every year. This year, the Grand River Hospital Foundation will be the beneficiaries.

Big time hockey players with big hearts giving kids @grhfoundation big smiles!!!! Thank you.

K-W Alumni Hockey Academy Camp is scheduled to conclude on July 13, and has been running since July 9. A silent auction, including a Mike Hoffman signed Florida Panthers jersey, a Mark Scheifele signed stick, and a Matt Murray game used signed stick has been taking place over the course of the Camp. All money will go towards purchasing a much needed piece of medical equipment at the hospital.

At Thursday’s session, Latta took a few hot laps with Michael on the ice, following the end of the day’s scheduled activities.

Latta most recently played with the Binghamton Devils of the AHL during the 2017-18 season, the affiliate team of the New Jersey Devils’ organization. On July 1, he became an unrestricted free agent, and has yet to sign a contract for the 2018-19 season.
