Alex Ovechkin lives his life simply. He wears Nike shirts and sweatpants for almost any occasion. He spends his free time playing video games and grilling. But when the Russian machine goes big, he goes to a level that’s absurd.
Which is why I need to show you his Stanley Cup cake.
During his second day of partying with the Stanley Cup, Ovechkin and his wife Nastya stood inside Modus — a high-scale Moscow restaurant — as We Are The Champions played on the loud speakers.
Then this cake was wheeled out and oh my god.

Of course, sparklers went off in the background while the delicious shrine to Ovechkin was cut.
Ovechkin cuts the giant @ovi8 cake. Sparklers go off. Great fun had by all. (Plus more “We are the Champions”) pic.twitter.com/qmTXVGPzgJ

The cake, designed and created by Russian baker Renat Agzamov, was at least two feet tall. The baked good featured a rotating figurine of Alex Ovechkin holding up the Stanley Cup, sugar ice crystals, icing made to look like snowballs, pucks with Ovi-related imagery, and enough cake to feed a few hundred people.

This was not the only fancy thing devoured at the party.
