Following the Capitals’ first Stanley Cup win in franchise history, the players’ celebration was intense. However, no one partied quite as hard as Jakub Vrana.
Vrana partied so hard, in fact, that Tom Wilson had to step in and tell him to to put his phone down.
On Tuesday, Vrana joined his Czech teammate, Michal Kempny, for a press conference at TV Nova, where the subject of their raucous partying came up.
“It was definitely a long celebration, especially since it was a first win for Washington so everyone was enjoying it,” Vrana said, grinning, when asked how crazy the off-ice celebrating was. “And the celebration was definitely long and strenuous.”

TV Nova was curious as to whether Vrana had been assigned the task of documenting the Capitals’ celebrations for the fans.
“No, not at all, that was a bit unexpected. I looked at it the next day and…” Vrána said, before trailing off and laughing with Kempný. “I almost didn’t remember it. I had no idea it would blow up like this. I guess I took the fans behind the scenes a bit.”
Vrana’s celebrating, which included getting a tattoo while inebriated, continued well into the Capitals’ Championship parade, where he ended up with a megaphone on top of the bus for some reason. But, much like the rest of Vrána’s shenanigans, there’s not much explanation.

“It kinda changed hands, so I took charge of it for a while and… you probably saw the rest.”
