Alex Ovechkin slow dances with Stanley Cup at Championship Parade Afterparty

Following the Capitals’ Championship parade and rally on Tuesday, the team held a more private affair that evening at the W Hotel in downtown DC.

Alex Ovechkin, in an Instagram Story by his wife, Nastya Ovechkina, was caught in another intimate moment with the Cup, slow dancing across the floor with it cradled lovingly in his arms.

Ovi’s moment with the Stanley Cup didn’t stop at just a slow dance. Sports Illustrated’s Alex Prewitt received footage from a friend at the party of the Capitals captain serenading the trophy.

That wasn’t the last Ovechkin would see of the Stanley Cup, before his designated day over the post-season. He joined owner Ted Leonsis as they visited the Arlington Police Department, MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, and Ft. Dupont Ice Arena.
