The entire DC area has come down with a highly contagious case of Stanley Cup fever as the Capitals compete in the Stanley Cup Final. With the Caps up 3-1 in the series, tonight’s Game Five has the potential to be historic for the franchise and the city. Tens of thousands of fans are expected to flock downtown to watch the game at various viewing parties throughout the city.

DC Mayor Muriel Bowser issued a proclamation Thursday morning, outlining the street closures around Capital One Arena, as well as encouraging all Washingtonians to “Rock the Red.”

She also announced that the DC Circulator bus, which stops at several locations throughout the city, will be free to all from 6pm to close (midnight) on Thursday.

Most importantly, the Mayor outlines some ground rules for fans headed downtown:

Rock the Red, Take Metro, and NO open containers.

Seriously, Caps fans. From all of us at RMNB: Tonight has the potential to be the best night in the franchise’s history. While all of us love our team to the point of exuberance, please be safe tonight. We don’t want you to have to spend the evening in the hospital, or god forbid, jail, because you got a little too excited and fell off a bank roof or climbed a traffic light. Stay hydrated, don’t cause damage, don’t throw your trash around willy-nilly, and just overall be excellent to each other.

Let’s Go Caps.
