Washington Capitals head coach Barry Trotz just got past the second round of the playoffs for the first time in his 19-year NHL career. And it appears he’s getting even more brazen with his coaching advice, taking it to the media and fans.
Thursday, before the Capitals jetted off to Florida for Games One and Two of the Eastern Conference Final, Trotz had this to say.
Barry Trotz has been preaching one thing throughout the playoffs for his team, media and fans, especially now they're heading to Tampa: Hydrate! @nbcwashington @SherreeBurruss #Capitals #ALLCAPS pic.twitter.com/wIv6aTJjiw

“Can I give you some advice right off the bat? Hydrate, please,” Trotz said. “It’s hot out there. Hydrate. It’s hot in Florida.”
A media person added, “particularly in Florida.”
“Yeah, exactly,” Trotz said. “Humid.”
According to NBC 4, Trotz has been telling the team, media, and fans to hydrate throughout the playoffs. It appears it’s becoming such regular advice that it may be becoming a superstition.
I agree on Trotz’s point to hydrate. And apparently so does Nastya Ovechkina, who is in Tampa Bay to support her husband. Nastya shared this video from the pool at the team hotel, and included an animated graphic of a sun sipping on a tasty drink.
Yes.
A team that hydrates together, wins together… or something.
