Streets around Capital One Arena will close to prepare for Stanley Cup Final

Tuesday morning the Metropolitan Police Department sent out a traffic advisory via the AlertDC system regarding the Caps’ Stanley Cup Final run. The road closures, set from the evening of May 29th to June 11th, seem to indicate that the NHL will be setting up the area around Capital One Arena with festivities.

The alert reads as follows:

The Metropolitain Police Department wishes to advise the public of street closures in conjuction with the 2018 Stanley Cup Final, which is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 to Wednesday, June 12, 2018.

In Order to facilitate this event, there will be no vehicular traffic in the following areas on May 29, from appoximately 11:00 pm until approximately 3:00 pm, on June 11, 2018:

  • F Street, NW from 5th Street to 7th Street, NW
  • 6th Street, NW from E Street to G Street, NW

While the closures are sure to add a snag to already-frustrating DC traffic, we can’t wait to see how the area will look all decked out for the Final!
