Let’s say you had acid thrown into your eyes and everything was blurry, you might assume Nicklas Backstrom found Alex Ovechkin for the goal. But nope. This play was conducted by bottom-line forwards Alex Chiasson and Devante Smith-Pelly.
Chiasson’s saucer pass arrived end-over-end and slightly out of DSP’s wheelhouse.
Showing great concentration, he buried it anyway to the far corner of the net.
DSP was pumped after the tally.
The Capitals’ ever-changing fourth line has been scoring huge goals lately. Nathan Walker connected with Alex Chiasson during Game Six of the Caps’ second-round series against the Penguins. The goal was one of two the Caps scored and eliminated the Pens. Tonight’s goal tied Game Two 2-2.
Earlier in the postseason, Smith-Pelly also assisted on Lars Eller’s double overtime goal in the first-round.
Beagle has six points, DSP has four points, and Chiasson has two during this year’s postseason. Secondary scoring is a beautiful thing.

So is DSP’s bounce back year.
Coming into this season, the stats said Devante Smith-Pelly was a minor-league player. Since then, he's had a solid regular season and now has three goals in 14 playoff games. He's become an indispensable part of the bottom six. And he's classy as hell. #DSP pic.twitter.com/hYM9zqO69g
