TJ Oshie and Tom Wilson are used to teaming up on the ice, but now they’re taking their butt-slashing connection into the world of commercials.

The long-time Washington Capitals teammates were tabbed by Great Clips, the salon chain, to star in a Stanley Cup Final promotional ad. Great Clips is the official hair salon of the NHL, NHLPA, and NHL Alumni Association.

The commercial begins with Oshie holding a hockey stick in a hair salon, with Wilson in the background getting a fresh trim.

“Right here, we have Tom Wilson,” Oshie says. “This guy knows how to own a power play on the ice…and in a salon chair.”

Wilson then winks at the camera before Oshie introduces the “Power Play Sweepstakes,” available on the Great Clips app. The sweepstakes will see a winner and up to four friends win a trip to a 2026 Stanley Cup Final game.

The ad work is not the first for Oshie this year, as he also starred in a Michelob Ultra Super Bowl commercial alongside movie star Kurt Russell, Top Gun: Maverick’s Lewis Pullman, and two-time Olympic gold medalist Chloe Kim.

Oshie’s latest acting gig comes as the 2018 Stanley Cup champion continues to stay busy after retiring from hockey this past June. This season, Oshie has regularly served as an analyst on ESPN while also contributing to Monumental Sports Network during Capitals games.

Wilson is also no stranger to promo work, securing endorsement deals with companies such as Reebok, Little Caesars, Philips Canada, Paisano’s Pizza, and BioSteel.

RMNB is not associated with the Washington Capitals; Monumental Sports, the NHLPA, the NHL, or its properties. Not even a little bit.
