As the Capitals venture into the uncharted territory of the third round, area sports teams and players are pulling out all the stops to show support. Said support is even coming from former DC athletes, including Redskins defensive tackle Chris Baker and nose tackle AJ Francis.
Both players, who spent time playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, are in attendance at Amalie Arena on Friday, rocking the red in full force.
Baker has been active on Twitter, posting videos taunting the Lightning fans around him. His custom 92 jersey features a nameplate with his nickname SWAGGY. Baker wore 92 while he was part of the Redskins team.

After Nikita Kucherov’s goal in the first period was waved off, Baker posted another video repeating “oh, they mad” over and over again about the Tampa Bay fans surrounding him.

Francis posted a photo of the two of them in front of the ice.

Baker played in DC for six seasons and appeared in 76 games for the Redskins. He then signed a three-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but was released after one season and now plays for the Cincinnati Bengals. Francis, a Washington DC native, signed and was waived by the Buccaneers in 2016. He played six games for the Redskins in 2017 and is now a member of the New York Giants.
NBC Washington sports anchor and reporter, Sherree Burruss was able to grab the two for a photo.

It’s great to see the DC sports love still going strong.
