Alex Ovechkin has one of the hardest shots in hockey history and another goal puck has the scars to prove it.
Over the weekend, the NHL put all the Stadium Series goal pucks up for auction and Ovechkin’s is missing a chunk of vulcanized rubber.
The Stadium Series goal was Ovechkin’s 40th goal of the season and the 598th of his career. After catching the puck with the blade of his stick, Ovechkin fired the puck past Frederik Andersen.

The goal puck is already going for over $1,500 on the NHL auction site through Fanatics.com.
As you’ll see below, none of the other goal pucks had this issue.
This isn’t the first time Ovi has destroyed a puck. Way back in 2014, Ovechkin posed for a photo after scoring his 50th goal of the season April 8 against the St. Louis Blues.
There was a huge dent in the puck.
