Saturday morning, the Toronto Maple Leafs officially unveiled their Stadium Series jersey design and it’s a beaut. The design pays tribute to the Royal Canadian Navy.
The Leafs will wear all white – white jerseys, white pants, white gloves, white socks, and white helmets – with trims of navy blue.
Take a closer look.
This marks the first time the Leafs will wear white sweaters for an outdoor game. It also marks the first time in club history they will wear their traditional home white logo on a white road sweater.
“I was surprised,” Morgan Rielly said to Sportsnet’s Luke Fox. “The jersey itself looks great. I think it’s a cool look. When you look at the white gloves and white pants, it’s pretty unique and pretty cool. I’m looking forward to wearing them.”
Tyler Bozak had one major concern with the design.

The “Ready, Aye, Ready” motto, which is featured on the Leafs neck line, is borrowed from the Royal Canadian Navy.
The Leafs motto of “Honour Pride Courage” will be printed on the sleeve in dark blue. It was inspired by Hockey Hall of Famer Conn Smythe.
Our motto was inspired by the words of WWI and WWII veteran Conn Smythe, who when asked why he chose the name Maple Leafs offered, “The Maple Leaf to us, was the badge of courage, the badge that meant home… It was a badge that meant more to us, than any other badge that we could think of… so we chose it… hoping that the possession of this badge would mean something to the team that wore it and when they skated out on the ice with this badge on their chest… they would wear it with honour and pride and courage, the way it had been worn by the soldiers of the first Great War in the Canadian Army.”
