On Sunday, the Caps appeared to have two different parties on their scheduled day off: a team holiday celebration and a belated birthday bash for Nicklas Backstrom. While we don’t know many details, what we do know can be attributed to budding videographer Alex Ovechkin and his wife Nastya Ovechkina.

We were also blessed with another #KuzyFace too.

Ovi read all of our minds and knew that we wanted to see more of lil goalie Lucca Carlson, so he first did us the courtesy of showing up papa John Carlson hoisting Lucca onto a seat in front of Ovi. Dmitry Orlov and his wife Varvara also feature prominently in many of the videos. Based on the smiles on their faces, I’m going to assume there’s a lot of teasing and joking going on.

We’re also treated to the last part of a beautiful rendition of “Happy Birthday,” sung in what appears to be Nicklas Backstrom’s honor. Backy celebrated his 30th birthday on on November 23, so I guess the team was just a little late?

Ovechkin’s last video is the best video. If I wasn’t going to have nightmares tonight, I will now, beacause I think this is the most terrifying video I’ve ever seen of Evgeny Kuznetsov.

Ovi’s wife Nastya also posted some videos of the day’s shenanigans, showing off some of the party’s gorgeous decorations and confirming that it was indeed Backstrom’s birthday being celebrated.
