Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky grew up in Novokuznetsk, Russia just like Capitals defenseman Dmitry Orlov. Both played on their hometown KHL team Metallurg Novokuznetsk. Orlov participates in Bobrovsky’s summer goaltender camp. They’re literally best friends.
Which makes the below highlight even more ridiculous.
Late in the second period, Orlov and Bobrovsky clinked skates as the defenseman skated by the crease. Bobrovsky went flying.
This was not very graceful.
Bobrovsky and referee Dan O’Rourke shared a laugh about the goaltender’s impromptu dance.
And that’s your daily reminder that ice is slippery.
