What is better than a calendar with your favorite hockey players? A calendar with your favorite hockey players with adorable doggos and puppers!
The always-popular Capitals Canine Calendar is back for 2018, and will be going on sale November 24 during the game vs. the Tampa Bay Lightning. The calendars will be available for purchase at merchandise stands throughout Capital One Arena, as well as at Kettler Capitals Iceplex and online. All the proceeds from the calendars will go to Homeward Trails Animal Rescue.
Players and their pups will be taking their photos on October 23. Unlike last year, where the team took photos at various landmarks throughout DC, players will be taking pictures at Kettler, showing off “their personal style” in the photographs.
No matter the personal style, we can all agree that we’re ready to see more photos of good good dogs (and maybe someone this year will surprise us by pulling a Mike Green and bringing their cat too.)
To jog your memory, here’s a few examples from last year’s photoshoot:
You can also find more photos from 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016 here on RMNB.

Calendars will be available for purchase at the team stores at Capital One Arena and Kettler Capitals Iceplex. They will be available at team store stands throughout the arena and online.
One hundred percent of proceeds will benefit Homeward Trails Animal Rescue. Homeward Trails is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that provides pet adoption in Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Maryland. Homeward Trails seeks to find permanent adoptive homes in the Mid-Atlantic region for dogs and cats from high-kill shelters or whose owners can no longer care for them. They seek to reduce the rate of euthanasia of adoptable animals through the rescue and placement of homeless animals; to support proactive spay/neuter practices; to promote positive and ongoing behavioral training; and to educate the public about how to care for their animals in a humane way. Homeward Trails not only facilitates adoptions from local shelters, but also supports a large network of foster care providers who take homeless dogs and cats into their homes, care for them, rehabilitate them when needed, and prepare them for their permanent adoptive homes. For more information on Homeward Trails, visit http://www.homewardtrails.org/.
The Capitals have raised nearly $182,000 for Homeward Trails through sales of the Canine Calendar since 2014.
