Saturday before their home opener, the Washington Capitals walked a red carpet before absolutely throttling the Montreal Canadiens 6-1. The players, arriving in Capitals-branded Lexuses, were escorted down the red carpet by a fan chosen by the team. The Caps signed autographs, took photos, and showed off their fanciest suits.
The event began around 3:30 PM and featured Slapshot wearing his finest tuxedo. Newest Capitals staff member Peter Bondra was also invited to walk the red carpet.
The loudest cheers came when PA announcer Wes Johnson announced TJ Oshie’s arrival. While speaking to Monumental Sports Network, Oshie admitted that his wife, Lauren, picked out his suit that day and that the best dressed would hands down be Braden Holtby. (He wasn’t wrong.)
