Edmonton Oilers forward Connor McDavid and San Jose Sharks wookie Brent Burns are the stars of a new viral ad campaign created by CCM.
Split into three segments, the ads have a carnival theme, as the two superstars participate in activities like plate breaking and a water dunk challenge. McDavid, the league’s reigning MVP and Art Ross winner, shows off his deadly shooting accuracy while Burns’ personality steals the show.
Welcome to the Carnival
The first commercial’s challenge is to smash milk bottles with slap shots. Before McDavid starts, he has one simple request for Burns: “If I knock them off, you shave your beard.”
McDavid slays, knocking two bottles off in one shot.
After Burns takes over and fails to hit the last bottle, he throws his stick like an angry javelin thrower (and still misses).
Burnzie’s Redemption
Burns has a shot at redemption with plate breaking. The targets are bigger and could easily handle a Burnzie bomb.
McDavid is shocked by Burns’ newfound accuracy.
After hitting all the plates, McDavid joins Burns for a total destruction of the shelves.
“How cold do you think that water is?”
The final carnival stop is at the dunk tank. Burns trash talks McDavid saying the target was way too small for him to hit. No dice. McDavid hits it on his second attempt.
Look at that glorious wet beard.
At the end of the challenges, the two share prizes of stuffed bears wearing their respective jerseys.
