Over the summer, Justin Williams signed a two-year contract to reunite with the Carolina Hurricanes. Williams is already getting consideration to be the team’s new captain and I’m guessing it’s for wise decision-making like this.
Wednesday morning, Williams tweeted a photo of his family packing up and moving to a new destination, likely the Cary, North Carolina, home he bought right before the Caps were eliminated from the playoffs.
Instead of just tossing his valuable NHL Awards into the moving van, Williams tweeted that “some things will get their own box.”
Yes, this is a very good idea.

The above photo shows off Williams’ replica Conn Smythe trophy that he received after being Playoff MVP in 2014. A replica of one of Williams’ three Stanley Cups sits in the background. Balanced on a Home Depot box to the right is the silver stick Williams was awarded by the Capitals for reaching the 1,000-game milestone in 2016.
When you win a major award in the NHL, your name is engraved onto the trophy, but you don’t actually get to keep it. The league will present the players later with a more manageable-sized award, which can stay in the player’s possession forever.
Williams’ former Kings teammate, Alec Martinez, wished him well during the move.
Hopefully your shoe collection gets lost in the move

Williams responded in kind.
Not all of us can score cup clinchers…the rest of us have to switch teams every now and then😉you wish u had my shoe game#sickstyle

Just imagine though. Williams probably needs an entire room of whatever house he lives in dedicated only to housing all of the trophies he’s won during his career in the NHL. What a life.
