This just in. Washington Capitals defenseman John Carlson is a late scratch against the Leafs tonight. And you guys, Nate Schmidt is in.
According to the Capitals, Carlson took rushes before the game, but was not playing well enough to play. He is out day-to-day with a lower body injury.

This is Nate’s first game in the lineup since March 14. Schmidt played two consecutive games after Kevin Shattenkirk was suspended two games by the NHL for a high hit.
