The Washington Capitals started sluggish but found their spirit late in the second period. TJ Oshie scored his 30th goal of the season, then, right before the buzzer for the second intermission, a trio of Caps swarmed the net to make it 3-1.
Whose goal it is matters, but not a whole lot, right?
Kevin Shattenkirk is getting credit, but this goal was a true collaboration, like Wilco’s Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Nick Backstrom put the initial shot on net, then Alex Ovechkin got the rebound and put it right back on target, then Shattenkirk went for the jugular. Whether he got the last touch or not, you decide.
Our best view comes from the top down, which might suggest that Backstrom got a piece of it. He and Oshie were both reaching.
Either way, it was a group effort. Team work makes the dream work, y’all. Group hug!
Caps lead 3-1.
