From top to bottom, we hate the Penguins franchise. From their obnoxious banners to their entitled players, the Penguins annoy us.
But today, one Yinzer did something so compassionate and sweet, we had to highlight it here on RMNB.
Penguins fan Jimmy Mains wrote on his Facebook page that he had an extra ticket to the Penguin-Tampa Bay Game in Pittsburgh on March 3rd. In Mains’ status, he wrote that he could not find anyone to go to the game so he decided to go alone.
“Walking to the game, I had a homeless man ask me for money,” Mains wrote. “I told him I didn’t have any but [asked] if he wanted he could go to the game and get out of the cold for a bit.”
The homeless man, who introduced himself as Rob, took Mains up on that offer and had the best night of his life. Rob proudly sang the National Anthem, enjoyed a dinner of chicken tenders, and cheered the whole night. He attended a good game, as the Penguins defeated the Lightning 5-2.
After the game, Rob, who said the gesture “made his life,” asked Mains how he could repay him.
“I told him [to] just pay it forward,” Mains said.
