Washington Capitals defenseman Brooks Orpik doesn’t fight much, but when he does, his opponent’s face will be vigorously punched.
During a Saturday matinee with the Detroit Red Wings, Orpik pounded notorious pest Steve Ott in a third-period bout which inspired shouts from Caps’ play-by-play man Joe Beninati. The fight lasted 32 seconds and featured 14 landed punches by Orpik to 1 by Ott.

The melee started after some intense forechking between Ott and Orpik in the Capitals defensive zone.
Orpik gave Ott a nasty slash and politely asked, “You want to do it?”
Ott obliged and then began eating punches like Halloween candy. At one point, Orpik landed eight-straight haymakers to the side of Ott’s head.
Towards the end of the bout, Ott inexplicably taunted Orpik and egged on cheers from the Joe Louis Arena crowd. Ott ate a few more punches before falling to the ice.
The reaction on Twitter was both swift and entertaining.

Where in the world did snarly, nasty Orpik that is capable of full on beat downs just come from?

I'm going to buy Orpik a gluten-free beer for that #Capitals scrap of the year

The fight was Orpik’s 16th professional fight and will most likely remain the most one-sided bout of his career.
