Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper just took a steel chair to the Washington Capitals’ back.
Over the weekend, Harper, who roots for the axis of evil of sports teams, changed his hockey allegiance to his new hometown team, the Vegas Golden Knights, ungracefully letting down the Caps in the process.
“If the Caps are playing the Knights, I’m rooting for the Knights,” Harper said.
Harper took photos and shot several semi-awkward videos for the Golden Knights.

The Capitals’ Twitter account did not take the news well.

“I’m so excited to be able to root for a team that’s in my hometown,” Harper said to NHL.com. “When we were able to get the Golden Knights into Vegas, my first thought was ‘I can’t wait.’ To be able to support a team from the Las Vegas area. What a better place to have a hockey team. Just a great city.”

In 2015, Harper attended his first ever Caps playoff game, wearing a home jersey and shoulder pads to Verizon Center.
Two days later, Harper gave the Caps a shoutout during a postgame interview at Nats Park.
“First of all, Let’s go Caps!” Harper said to MASN’s Dan Kolko. “Let’s go! Let’s go Caps!”
Monday, the Washington area athlete was spotted at T-Mobile Arena for Monday Night Raw, proudly wearing a Dallas Cowboys hat.
The Cowboys are Harper’s favorite football team. He also roots for the Duke Blue Devils, Los Angeles Lakers, and the New York Yankees. At least the Golden Knights are from his hometown.
But still. This is a real Seth Rollins move, Bryce. A real Seth Rollins move.
