Eight in a row: Caps beat Blackhawks 6-0!

The Washington Capitals disposed of the Chicago Blackhawks in spectacular fashion. Production throughout the lineup, Braden Holtby being even better than he was last year, Barry Trotz’ shining bald head. Eight wins in a row. Everything is good in DC….for now.

Jay Beagle, as he is wont to do against the Blackhawks, sparked an incredibly dominant first period for the Caps with a slick wrister that went five-hole on Corey Crawford to give his boys a 1-0 lead. Nicklas Backstrom would follow suit only thirteen seconds later after some nifty passing to make it 2-0 and Brett Connolly would do some former first round pick stuff and all of the sudden it was 3-0 after 20 minutes.

The Blackhawks would respond well in the second with a Vince Hinostroza goal to make it 3-1. SIKE! Marian Hossa interfered with Braden Holtby and you cant do that. Nate Schmidt would do cinnamon-bun things and feed Tom Wilson to make it 4-0 after 40 minutes.

TJ Oshie would add a 5th in the third and Beagle would score his second of the night to send us to Enrique-land.

Caps beat Blackhawks 6-0!

Don’t let a moment go by, nothing can stop us tonight.

  • That was a incredibly fun, fantastic effort from the Caps tonight and I got the authorization from the Bailamos master himself to send us to dance land.
  • Jay Beagle got the Caps off to a great start with his marker in the first and got another in the third. For some reason Beags seems to kill the Blackhawks. He has 6 goals in 8 career games against Chicago.
  • Big shout-out to Karl Alzner for playing his 500th straight NHL game. Only three defensemen have done that since World War 2. Congrats Karl!
  • After the Capitals scored two goals in thirteen seconds, I asked our Twitter followers what else happens in thirteen seconds. I got a lot of responses that you would expect from 8th graders, but I also received these gems.
  • RMNB’s Peter Hassett aka Obi-Wan or “Big Pete” was at the game tonight with his Hawks fan doctor girlfriend. Go give him a follow on Twitter, his timeline was hilarious tonight.
  • Braden Holtby is not from this planet. Another sparkling effort, another shut out, his league leading 6th. The only thing left for him to do is go full Kenan Thompson in Mighty Ducks and play the puck to center, remove his helmet and score with a knuckle puck.
  • Nate Schmidt made a great play while falling down to set up Tom Wilson for the Capitals 4th goal. It was so sweet, you should watch it again and again and again.
  • Reminder: The Caps Sunday matinee against the Flyers was moved to 1pm and will now be a nationally televised game AS WELL AS broadcasted on CSN (yay).
  • Casual three point night for Tom Wilson, the first of his career. Good stuff Willy Baby.

Joe B suit of the night

The Caps are rolling folks. We’ll see you on Sunday for the Flyers, it’s an early one.
