Back and forth: Caps beat Canes 4-3 (SO)

Coming into tonight’s game against the Hurricanes, the Washington Capitals had won five-straight games, playing some of their best hockey of the season. But beating those plucky Caniancs would not be easy. Jeff Skinner got the game off to a hot start with a goal 5:46 into the first period. From then, the Caps didn’t look great and the team is very fortunate to have Philipp Grubauer.

The second period was electric. Alex Ovechkin would tie it on the power play and a Justin Williams shot from the crease would give the Caps their first lead of the game. Justin Faulk would tie it up for the Canes.

Teuvo Teravainen and TJ Oshie would trade goals in the third. Oshie and Kuzy put the biscuit in the basket during the shootout.

The Caps’ five game winning streak is extended to six. YEAH. SIX STRAIGHT WINS. YOU READ THAT RIGHT.
