Capitals vs. Blues pregame: Gobble Gobble

Tonight the Caps are facing the St. Louis Blues, who are looking pretty great.

The Blues are neck-in-neck with Capitals in the NHL standings, and are trying to extend a hot streak. They’re coming off of a win over the Boston Bruins last night, so the Capitals are (hopefully) going to look like the more energized team. But check out this stat. In their past eight back-to-back series games, the Blues have won a ridiculous seven of eight. The Blues are also 4-1 in their last five road games, so being in the Verizon Center tonight might not phase them much. Are the Capitals the better team? Skill-wise, probably, but this is going to be a tough game.

Puck drop is at 7:00pm on CSN, folks. Buckle up.

Team Record Possession PDO Power Play Penalty Kill
St. Louis Blues  11-6-3  53.39%  99.2 20.6%  88.8%
Washington Capitals 11-5-2 53.51% 100.9 15.4% 81.8%

Best Part About Thanksgiving

Other than the food, the best part is singing this all week long:

Projected Lines

The Capitals had an optional skate this morning, so the lines aren’t completely confirmed. According the Isabelle Khurshudyan at the Washington Post the lines are expected to look a little something like this:

Johansson – Backstrom – Williams
Ovechkin – Kuznetsov – Burakovsky
Sanford – Beagle – Connolly
Winnik – Eller – Wilson

Alzner – Niskanen
Orlov – Carlson
Orpik – Schmidt

OK Go’s spectacular video for ‘The One Moment’

This entire video took 4.2 seconds to film and was slowed down to sync with the nearly four-minute-long song. Crazy.

Thanksgiving Rankings

We’ve already virtually yelled at each other about the ranking of Thanksgiving dishes, so we’re going to do it again. The rules have changed a bit. Instead of only side dishes, we’re going to talk about ALL dishes. Here are the correct answers (and a bit of an insight into how horrendous my diet is):

  1. The Sweet Potatoes with marshmallows and brown sugar. Nothing quite like taking a healthy food and just ruining all it’s nutritional value.
  2. Wine or Beer for us old people. My family is insane.
  3. Mashed Potatoes with gravy. They need to be very creamy.
  4. Pumpkin or apple pie. There is no other pie.
  5. Rolls. Just a whole ton of bread.

In all seriousness, we hope you have a really wonderful day tomorrow with your loved ones. Be thankful, be kind, and pace yourselves with all the good eats.
