The Washington Capitals are up early against Mike Green’s Detroit Red Wings, and it’s all thanks to Justin William’s tap-in.
Just 43 seconds into the game on the very first shot faced by Jimmy Howard, Williams reached to the crease to record his 600th career point. Marcus Johansson’s secondary assist also gives him 200 career points.
It was a broken play by the Wings that allowed the goal. Darren Helm attempted to spark a breakout with a pass to Mike Green, but that puck found Evgeny Kuznetsov instead. A scramble low by the Detroit net ensued and then Williams found the back of the net.
