Evengy Kuznetsov notched his first career NHL hat trick Friday night in a wild 7-4 victory in Edmonton. It was a fitting end to the Capitals last game at Rexall Place, completing a sweep of their Western Canada road trip and extending their winning streak to 6-1.

After the game, Kuzy was rewarded with a shaving cream pie from his buddy, captain Alex Ovechkin, who later praised him on Instagram, referring to Kuznetsov as his “little son”:

Kuznetsov was also given a shout out from Tom Wilson and Michael Latta on Twitter:

Kuznetsov also used his special night to thank everyone who helped get him to the NHL. “Got my first hat trick in my career,” he said on Instagram. “Want to say thank you to my family, friends and most important to my teammates.and I love my daughter and my wife and parents.”

Kuznetsov’s Hat Trick was just another milestone in the Russian forward’s hot start. In 7 games, he has 3 goals, and 8 assists. He ranks second in the league in scoring.
