Evengy Kuznetsov notched his first career NHL hat trick Friday night in a wild 7-4 victory in Edmonton. It was a fitting end to the Capitals last game at Rexall Place, completing a sweep of their Western Canada road trip and extending their winning streak to 6-1.

The Capitals completed the sweep of their three-game road trip to Western Canada with a 7-4 win over the Oilers. Evgeny Kuznetsov finished the night with a career high of five points, including his first NHL hat trick and a shaving cream pie from his teammates to celebrate.

Washington Capitals center Evgeny Kuznetsov played the best game of his young career against the Edmonton Oilers on Friday night. Kuzy tallied three goals–his first NHL hat trick–and two assists in the Caps’ 7-4 win. The five points were a career high (in the NHL).
The young Russian’s trio of goals covered all the bases. There was a beautiful tic-tac-toe with linemates TJ Oshie and Alexander Ovechkin, a breakaway off a perfect feed from John Carlson (and a pretty bad play at center ice by Oilers defenseman J. Schultz (no, not that one), and a power-play snipe to close out the third period.
Did you see that?! Did you even see Friday night’s glorious mess of a hockey game between the Washington Capitals and Edmonton Oilers?
No, really, did you see it? A track meet. A barn burner. A game with a lot of goals. Too much happened for a comprehensive recap. In short: everyone scored and then the road team won.
