Redskins, Capitals, and Wizards All Win on Same Day For the First Time in 32 Years

Saturday, there was a bit of history in DC sports. The Washington Redskins, Washington Capitals, and Washington Wizards all won on the same day for the first time in 32 years (and nine days). And if we’re counting just by days, it took 11,697 of them for this to happen again.

The Redskins’ 38-24 win over the Eagles gave the Skins the NFC East title (8-7 record) and a playoff berth. It was also the Redskins’ 600th win as a franchise.

Evgeny Kuznetsov One of Many Big Name Sports Celebrities to See Wizards Beat Spurs

Capitals center Evgeny Kuznetsov went to his first Wizards game of the year and saw one hell of a game. The Wiz won on a last second three, after Bradley Beal shook LaMarcus Aldridge with a crossover.

Troy Brouwer Gets Standing Ovation at Wizards Game, Waves A Lot With Mascot G-Wiz (GIF)

Washington Capitals forward Troy Brouwer is a man’s man. He’s gruff and beard-y. He’s a little like the Ron Swanson character in real life (except super nice). That’s why, when the Brouwer Pouwer leader was introduced as a “hero” at Friday’s Washington Wizards game, you could tell it made him a little uncomfortable.

Or maybe that’s just because they decided to trot him out with the team’s furry blue mascot G-Wiz and the mascot started talking to him while under the suit. I’m still not sure which.

Alex Ovechkin Goes to Wizards Game, Buys Ice Cream All By Himself (GIF)

Because EPIX loves us, they dedicated an entire segment of episode two focusing on Alex Ovechkin‘s unique personality, on display at a Washington Wizards game!

Sitting in extravagant courtside seats, EPIX paints a picture of just how non-extravagant this scene is. “Ovechkin prefers the front row than a luxury suite,” Not-Liev Schreiber says softly. “With no interest from hiding from the crowds or having someone else bring him what he wants.”

It’s at that very moment when we see Ovechkin pop up the Verizon Center stairs solo with a very important mission.

Russian Machine Meet Polish Machine: Alex Ovechkin Goes to Wizards Game in John Wall Jersey

Russian bros Alex Ovechkin and Evgeny Kuznetsov showed some support to their basketball brethren Sunday, taking in the Washington Wizards game at Verizon Center. The Wiz beat the Jazz by 9 and are the top team in the Southeast division. Ovechkin and Kuznetsov, wearing John Wall and Paul Pierce jerseys respectively, watched the game from court side seats.

Alex Ovechkin and Evgeny Kuznetsov Go to Washington Wizards Game, Meet Gheorghe Muresan, Wale (Photos)

His mother Tatyana won two Olympic gold medals in basketball for Team Russia, so Alex Ovechkin has always had a love for the sport. He’s gone to Dynamo basketball games. He’s been featured playing basketball (shirtless, of course) with his friends in his DVD. He’s even shot around with BFF Nicky Backstrom during one of Bruce Boudreau’s press conferences.

On Wednesday night, on his day off, Ovechkin took fiancee Maria Kirilenko and his new best bud in the whole wide world, Evgeny Kuznetsov, to the Wizards/Suns game at Verizon Center.

It appears they had fun.
